Iota's IQ4 Battery Bank Charge Controller works with an Iota DLS Power Supply to efficiently and automatically charge your 12V or 24V battery bank. The IQ4 can be used with any 12V or 24V DLS Power Supply/Converter, to provide safe long-term 4-stage charging. If your DLS charger is used in a mobile home or boat which is regularly plugged in to shore power, and/or your vehicle is often plugged in during off-season storage, the IQ4 will automatically keep your battery bank fully charged and ready for use.
Four-stage charging uses the following four automatic voltage levels to deliver optimum charging/conditioning current, depending on the batteries' state of charge:
Four-stage charging uses the following four automatic voltage levels to deliver optimum charging/conditioning current, depending on the batteries' state of charge:
- Bulk Charging Stage:
- The IQ4's Bulk Stage will deliver the full rated output of the charger (14.8V for a 12V batteries, 29.6V for 24V). This stage quickly charges the batteries to near-full capacity, reducing overall charging time.
- Absorption Charging Stage:
- After the battery is mostly charged, the IQ4 slightly lowers the charging voltage for the last ~10% of the active charging cycle (14.2V for 12V batteries, 28.4V for 24V). The IQ4 will remain at this stage for up to 8 hours, so the battery reaches full charge.
- Float Charging Stage:
- The Float Stage is designed to maintain your battery's full charge, while preventing any battery damage from overcharging. The Float Stage delivers the lowest current of all four automatic settings (13.6V for 12V batteries, 27.2V for 24V).
- Equalization Stage:
- The IQ4 Equalization setting switches on after your batteries have been in Float Stage for 7 days. Equalization delivers spikes of higher current to your batteries, to dissolve sulfation build up on the battery plates, and prevent separation of the electrolyte, to keep your battery bank in peak condition during storage.
